MGI Graduate Academy

The MGI Graduate Academy is a 40-week intensive program whereby six of our Australasian firms work together to provide specialised training to our grads in aim to help them develop their skills and their confidence in all aspects of accounting.  This program helps our young accountants become strong communicators, great leaders, hard working team members and critical thinkers. 

Pathway to Partnership Program

The Pathway to Partnership Program (PPP) is offered to all of our staff who meet the PPP selection criteria. PPP focuses on specialisation, development and opportunity whereby each participant will be given the opportunity to select an area of specialisation in their career roadmap, be provided with leadership and further development training, as well MGI secondment opportunities, introduction to networks and personal branding, and for high performers, the opportunity for equity.

Employee Equity Program

The Employee Equity Program may be offered to those high performing individuals taking part in the PPP. During this phase, those that meet the Employee Equity Program criteria will be offered Equity within the firm. Advisors who are specialists in their area, have an independent client base worth more than $600K/annum and are equity holders may be offered partnership within the firm.

Friday team update and drinks

We live and breathe culture at MGI Dobbyn Carafa which is why we ensure that every Friday afternoon our team gather together and celebrate our wins (big or small) at our team update. Our updates always lead into Friday night drinks and a delicious grazing platter made by our very own Principal, Joulyette! We love our Friday’s and we know you would too!

Secondment opportunities

Although locally owned, firms within MGI Australasia form part of the globally interactive MGI Group and regularly engage in global business. As a result, our staff receive the benefit of possible international secondments as well as other exciting career opportunities in various locations across Australia and New Zealand. 

Strategy Retreats

Every year our team have the opportunity to be involved in creating our strategy for the firm at our yearly strategy day. We also venture off on over night retreats every two years where we not only discuss our strategy, but also have a whole lot of fun exploring the local area! From the peaceful town of Marysville, to the bustling city of Sydney, our team love hanging out on this memorable retreat!

Buddy Program

Our Buddy Program ensures that you are paired with someone in the firm to be your go-to person and to help you during the onboarding phase. Your buddy is always there for you and will ensure you feel comfortable when starting in our firm. They are there to answer any of your questions, help you integrate within our culture and assist you in establishing internal networks.

Mentoring Program

We encourage all our staff to select a mentor within our firm. Our mentor program is designed to help our staff develop their personal and professional/business skills to support their career goals. Mentoring sessions typically occur monthly whereby the mentor provides encouragement, acts as a sounding board and provides our staff with direction and guidance.

Passion Project

We certainly know that there is more to life than the 9 – 5! So, our Passion Project updates allow all of our staff to share their passions outside of work with the entire team! It is a fantastic way to get to know each other and learn about what one another enjoys doing outside of work hours. Whether it’s training for a marathon, learning to cook or simply spending more time with family and friends, we love knowing what makes our staff tick!

Weekly professional training

We host weekly internal training sessions during lunchtime every Thursday which includes a delicious lunch! These sessions are often run by our very own team members or external speakers which cover both technical content and a range of soft-skill competencies. In addition, the team at Tax Banter provide tax updates and presentations on special topics every month. 

Flexible work days

We endeavour to support our employees to achieve their personal, family and career goals by facilitating flexible work arrangements to achieve the optimum balance between work and personal responsibilities. As such, our Flexible Work Arrangements Policy allows our staff to work from home two days a week, with Friday being mandatory in the office as this is our team day.

Fun team and social events

In addition to our weekly Friday fun, our dedicated “Fun Team” are responsible for organising regular events and activities which are sure to entertain. From go karting, to comedy nights and even our very own masterchef challenge, we can promise you plenty of fun, but if that isn’t enough… we also celebrate every special occasion under the sun – birthdays, anniversaries, Easter, EOFY, Christmas, Grand Final Day and so much more!

Paid CA/CPA Programs

We are please to assist (full-time, permanent) team members with their education and professional subscription cost. We will reimburse your module fees upon successfully completing the module for all CA and CPA Programs.

Paid professional memberships

We require all employees who have successfully completed their CA/CPA Program to apply for membership of CA ANZ/CPA. We will happily pay the annual subscription fee to one of these professional bodies to help you with your professional development.

Paid Study Leave

Study leave applies for each module undertaken by CA, CPA, TIA or Masters Program candidates. Employees completing these modules may take three days paid Study Leave (including exam day) and three additional Annual Leave days can be taken for study purposes per module. 

Community Programs

MGIDC have a strong desire to give back to the community by associating ourselves with a variety of charities and organisations. Each of our fantastic staff members participates in organising a charity throughout the year including Dry July, Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea, Movember and many more.

Cloud-based operating systems

We are pleased to have all of our software’s now operating within the cloud. Some of our cloud-based systems include Xero, FYI Docs, ATO Smart Docs, Employment Hero, Microsoft Teams, BGL 360, Zoho and more. 

Referral Bonus Schemes

Our Referral Bonus Scheme provides employees the opportunity to share in the success of hiring qualified recruits by referring candidates who are hired into the organisation. All employees are eligible to participate in this scheme and will receive a monetary reward for their assistance in the hiring process. 

Open Door Policy

MGIDC operate to an open door policy. There is no required procedure to be followed regarding communication. Whoever our staff feel comfortable with in speaking to is who they can speak to. In the event that our staff do not feel comfortable going to their buddy or manager, the directors, HR or any of our other incredible team members are ready and available to assist in any way possible.

Dress for Your Day Policy

We trust our people to use their judgement and common sense when they dress for work. As such, our Dress for Your Day Policy encourages our staff to dress in a way that makes them feel confident, comfortable and inspires them to deliver exceptional customer service.
